Track Information

  • 1. Moroni's Theme - 3:26 - Lyrics
  • Those who shall be destroyed shall speak out of the ground…
And their speech shall whisper (whisper) out of the dust…
    Whisper, whisper, whisper….

Prophets of old speak from plates made of gold (6 times)
Prophets speak from plates of gold (4 times)
Hear us, hear us (2 times)

People of the latter-day come hear our story told
In our dreams we see your day, a day when faith grows cold.
We have come to testify and witness of our God.
Ancient voices beckon you to grasp the iron rod

Hear us, hear us! Hear us, hear us!

Arm yourself for war against the evil of your time.
Hear the music of our faith, the message in our rhyme.
Echoes of the cov’nants made to faithful men of old,
Words of truth and promise whisper from the plates of gold!

Hear us, hear us! Hear us, hear us!
Aah, aah, aah, aah, aah, aah, aah …

In my dreams I can see you
I know the needs of your day
If you will hold the rod, the word of God
Can help you find your way

In my dreams I can see you (Prophets of old)
I know the needs of your day
(Speak from plates made of gold)
If you will hold the rod, the word of God (Prophets of old)
Can help you find your way (Speak from plates made of gold)

Prophets of old speak from plates made of gold (4 times)
Made of gold, made of gold

    Whisper, whisper, whisper, whisper, whisper
Be it known to all the people of this promised land
Gospel truth has been restored and kept by God’s own hand
Truth to love and treasure, who can measure what it’s worth
Like a stone cut with no hands, it rolls to fill the earth!
    Hear us, hear us!

  • 2. Stronger Than Steel - 4:25 - Lyrics
  • Father, behold this broken bow.
What shall I do? Where can I go?
My brethren curse me in anger, my hungry children cry
Surely, thou wouldst not leave us to die….

    Father, behold this broken man.
What can I do when I’ve done all I can?
My nights are sleepless with worry, I’m sinking in despair.
Wilt thou ease the crushing burden that I bear?

Lowly in heart, I kneel (O Father I pray)
Take every doubt I feel (Please hear me)
Oh Lord, I believe— Help thou mine unbelief,
And make my faith stronger than steel

My God commands the earth and sky.
He knows my needs, he hears my cry
He’ll help me fashion a new bow. He’ll make my arrow fly
When I trust Him, He sends power from on high.

Lowly in heart, I kneel (O Father I pray)
Strengthen the faith I feel (Please hear me)
Oh Lord, I believe—Help thou mine unbelief,
And make my faith stronger than steel.

    Come fill my empty table
    Come make my spirit full
Thy word is like manna (Thy word)
To my hungry soul (is like manna to my hungry soul)
    I’ll try thy tender mercies
    I’ll reach for thy hand
    ‘Til thy Spirit gives me
    Confidence to stand
    Lowly in heart, I kneel
    Strengthen the faith I feel
Oh Lord, I believe, (Oh Lord I believe)
Help me believe, Lord, I believe
Oh make my faith, (Oh make my faith)
Yes, make my faith… stronger than steel.

  • 3. It's My Chance - 4:01 - Lyrics
  • Alone at the water’s edge, awaiting trials
Surrounded by men who delight in destruction, not a few
I will encircle the flocks round about
I will stand strong and they’ll hear me shout

It’s my chance to show what I’m made of
    It’s my chance to shine
It’s my chance to conquer the moment
    Lord, the glory be Thine
It’s my chance to stand for courage
    Break the chains that bind
    Oh, send Thy power
    Lord, the glory be Thine

Alone with him tonight, his arm’s around me
He shows me the way that leads to destruction, whoa-oh
I stand at the crossroad between dark and light
So much depends on my choice tonight

It’s my chance to show what I’m made of
    It’s my chance to shine
It’s my chance to show the Lord
I’m on His side of the line
It’s my chance to conquer the moment
    Leave temptation far behind
    I’ll make the choice
Now it’s my chance to shine

Alone at the water’s edge, awaiting trials
He shows me the way that leads to destruction, whoa-oh
I’ll win the hearts of my fellow men
Rescue the sheep and return them again

It’s my chance to show what I’m made of
    It’s my chance to shine
It’s my chance to conquer the moment
    Lord, the glory be Thine

It’s my chance to stand for courage
    Break the chains that bind
    I’ll show the Lord
I’m on His side of the line

It’s my chance to show what I’m made of
    Who I am define
It’s my chance to show the Lord
I’m on His side of the line
It’s my chance to stand for courage
    Break the chains that bind
    O send Thy power
Lord the glory, Lord the glory,
    Lord, the glory, be Thine.

  • 4. Women and Children - 3:26 - Lyrics
  • There’s his train set on the floor
    Jeans draped over the drawer
    Storybook still on the nightstand
Teddy bear tucked in the bed
Last night my little boy slept here
I still can smell his sweet head

Women and children, though we would shield them
    I feel the spirit constrain
Women and children, God shall be with them
As they’re consumed in the flame

    Does God hear me anymore?
    I don’t know what I’m praying for
No miracle came from the heavens
My heart is as cold as a stone
    Yesterday I held my Jamie
    Tonight I’m grieving alone, wo…ah…..

    Women (Jamie) and children (Jamie)
    God surely hears them (Jamie)
God is aware of the pain (is God aware of the pain?)
Women and children, God surely hears them
They cry to Thee in their pain
    Women (Father) and children (Father)
God surely hears them (a woman’s heart is broken)
God is aware of the pain
(art Thou aware of the) women and children
God surely hears them, Glory imparts for their pain (women and children)

  • 5. A Woman's Heart - 2:03 - Lyrics
  • Why is my heart so tender? Why do I cry alone?
My husband doesn’t understand this longing for my home.
When Lehi had his visions and he was carried by the spirit
Did Sariah ever dream, or ever see, or hear it?

Did Sariah cry when Lehi said we’re leaving?
Did she wonder why as she packed her things away?
Did she have a special friend she’d never see again?
    Did Sariah sigh and say……

Where will I find the courage?
Where will I find the strength?
Dear Sariah, help me find some courage of my own
Because my heart wants me to stay at home.

  • 6. A Woman's Heart (reprise) - 2:52 - Lyrics
  • My husband was a prophet, visionary man
He said that the Lord had told him, leave Jerusalem
My woman’s heart was shaken but for all the Lord had taken
He restored a thousand fold, and all we left behind was gold, just gold
God led this woman’s heart to find her home

Home is faith in Father, home is trust in His plan
He’ll provide a Liahona leading to a promised land

Did she question how she could take another step as she walked across the sand?
When tossed by ocean gale, did her faith begin to fail?
Did she wonder if she'd see the promised land?

Oh, home is faith in Father
    (I will miss my grandchildren)
Home is trust in His plan
(I don’t want to leave my home behind)
Can I trust my Heavenly Father to know my heart and mind?
Tell me why I doubt, tell me why I fear…
(women need not doubt, women need not fear)
I’m afraid of leaving my home….
(God will give each one a home)

Home is faith in Father, home is trust in His plan
(Give me faith oh Father, give me trust in Thy plan)
He’ll provide a Liahona to find your promised land

    Every faithful woman’s heart
Will always have (how can I leave)
    A home (my home)

  • 7. More Than an Angel - 3:56 - Lyrics
  • Oh be like this river, this river my son
Into the fountain of righteousness run
Be like this valley, steadfast and firm
Unto the Lord wilt thou turn?

Oh, how I pray for you Laman
Lemuel, I fear for thy soul
Wilt thou turn thy face t’ward our Savior’s grace
Wilt thou let His love make thee whole?

Oh Father, he’s drowning in a sea of sin
Please send an angel to come rescue him
It’s not enough, though we’ve done all we can
Father, do not stay thy hand!

Father, please send him an angel
Father, we fear for his soul
Please turn his face t’ward our Savior’s grace
Please let Thy love make him whole

My sons saw an angel, my sons heard a voice
Father sent an angel, but my sons made their choice
My sons saw an angel, and miracles were shown
Voices spoke from heaven to hearts already turned to stone

Oh, Father, please help him, please save him, we pray
Desp’rately we watch him slipping away
He’s out there somewhere, lost in the night
    Please send him heavenly light

Father sent more than an angel
    Father sent His only Son
If we turn our face t’ward our Savior’s grace
The work of salvation is done

More than an angel, rebellious sons require
Pain, pray’r and patience even trials by fire
Father sent a Savior with power to atone
Only He can soften a heart turned to stone

Father sent a Savior, an anchor to my soul,
Yes, our son has a Savior and one day….
    He will make him whole

Through the Holy Ghost, through the Holy Ghost
    Sacred witness will be sent
If ye ask with an unshaken faith
If these things are not real and true.

Receive These Things Soundtrack

The Orchestrations

The orchestrations were done by Academy Award nominee Merrill Jenson, who scored Legacy, Testaments, Joseph, Prophet of the Restoration, and Emma; My Story, along with dozens of Hollywood films.

The Vocals

The vocals were performed by LDS “celebrity” voices: Sandra Turley (who played Cosette in Les Miserables on Broadway), Daniel Beck (who has starred in many roles in film and on stage), Roger Hoffman (soloist with the Mormon Tabernacle choir and creator of many popular children’s CDs), Artie Hemphill (Nashville country artist), Taylor Olson (whose vocal coach also works with David Archuleta), Danny Davis (former Young Ambassador and entertainer), recording artist Michele Baer, Jared Young (Young Ambassador who played Nephi in the Liken the Scriptures series), Kim Underwood (who has sung with Michael McLean and Kurt Bestor),  Zachary Hess (popular young singer from Southern California and Young Ambassadors newcomer), and Janice Kapp Perry, probably the most recognized female in LDS music.

The CD

The CD comes with a 6 panel full color insert (with all lyrics and scripture references) in a jewel case with black tray, with clear plastic overwrap.

The Music

The music on the soundtrack was composed by Rebecca Martin, Lynn Shurtleff, and Daniel Johnson.  The lyrics were written by Rebecca Martin and Sally Johnson.  There is no profit motive for any of the producers or composers.  This music was created to bless families and strengthen testimonies.   We are hoping that wards and stakes will perform Receive These Things.  By learning the songs from this soundtrack, the number of music rehearsals will be reduced.  If you would like a copy of this CD, they are available for $9.99 each, plus $2.98 shipping and handling.  Again, the producers and composers are NOT profiting financially from this project.
